May: Jon is co-organizing a New York Society of Security Analysts program on The State of the Credit Markets.
 
April: Scheduled to speak on a panel at the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA) 40th Annual Writers' Conference, explaining how journalists can leverage their skills to serve corporate clients. 
 
January: Gave a presentation to the Harvard Club of New York's Finance Career Interest Group.
 
2010
 
November: The American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) awarded two of Jon's commentaries a Digital Azbee silver award. The commentaries analyzed career impacts from the Dodd-Frank Act and from a high-profile SEC lawsuit against Goldman Sachs.
  
October: Jon organized and led a New York Society of Security Analysts program on Opportunities in Trading Desk Research. 
 
September: Jon returned to a hands-on role in the financial industry, joining Interactive Data Corp. as a Senior Fixed-Income Analyst.
 
The 2010-11 edition of Careers in Financial Markets, a 96-page guide for students and career switchers, was issued by eFinancialCareers. Jon served as Deputy Editor.
 
February: Jon launched a Twitter presence for eFinancialCareers-US ( @efcusnews ). In the first two months, he posted nearly 700 tweets.
 
January: eFinancialCareers released Jon's White Paper outlining the most in-demand skill sets for 2010, to Human Resources officers at banks, asset managers and market data vendors.

 

2009
 

December: Jon prepared detailed talking points for a chief executive's symposium presentation on The Changing Landscape of Financial Services Recruiting: 2010 Outlook.

 

eFinancialCareers distributed Jon's White Paper, The New Landscape for Financial Services Talent, to Human Resources officers at banks, fund management firms and market data vendors. The paper details how the banking talent market may evolve in 2010 and beyond, as financial institutions gradually regain health.

 
July: Jon oversaw the production and quality assurance process for the 2009-10 edition of Careers in Financial Markets. 
 
Jon contributed material to an article published in the August issue of Best Practices in Compensation & Benefits, a trade newsletter published by Business & Legal Reports (BLR). The article examined fiduciary concerns associated with pay formulas for investment professionals who manage public employee retirement funds.
 
June: Jon attended a half-day workshop on High Yield Basic Tools (credit analysis, covenants, indexes and valuation), conducted by the New York Society of Security Analysts.
 
Jon organized and led a panel discussion on Opportunities in Distressed Investing, for the New York Society of Security Analysts.

April: Federal Careers: Opportunities for Financial Professionals, an all-day jobs fair program Jon helped organize for the New York Society of Security Analysts, attracted 550 participants.
 
 
2008
 
December: Jon prepared a media campaign for Andrew Kalotay Associates calling attention to the firm's expertise in an innovative type of bond that helped one federal agency sidestep the credit crisis. 

 
November: Jon supplied pithy introductions for research papers on numerous fixed-income topics published on the Web site of Andrew Kalotay Associates, a bond analytics shop headed by quantitative research pioneer, Dr. Andrew Kalotay.
 
October: Jon's commentary, Bonuses - What's at Stake, was quoted in The Wall Street Journal's DealJournal blog, Oct. 31.
 
An article Jon ghostwrote for a chief executive appeared in the inaugural issue of The Investment Professional, a new quarterly journal published by the New York Society of Security Analysts.
 
July: Taking time off to compete in an international chess tournament, Jon came within a hair of attaining an International Master norm.
